Educational Qualification

  • Minimum 10th Pass with 40% marks
  • Minimum 40% marks in English
  • OR
  • ITI (2 years) with minimum 50% marks

Age Limit

  • 17.5 to 25 years (General Category)
  • Relaxation for Diploma / SC-ST candidates

Medical & Physical Requirements

  • Medically fit as per DG Shipping norms
  • Eyesight: 6/6 vision (no color blindness)
  • No speech/hearing issues
  • Minimum Height & Weight as per standards

👉 Medical fitness is mandatory for sea service.

Important Instructions For GP Rating Selection – 2026

  1. Selected candidates will be required to undergo 6 months Pre-sea training course (GP Rating) and basic modular courses at our associate college Directorate General Shipping, Mumbai Govt. of India.
  2. Selected Candidate Shall Go for the Pre-sea Training Only at Commander ali Academy of merchant Navy or Maritime Foundation, Coimbatore Marine Academy (CMC) or else Maritime Foundation the selection of the institute shall be of sole decision of the company on the basis of Performance of the candidate during the Selection Process.
  3. Selected candidates will be required to undergo a Six Month Pre-sea training course (GP Rating) and basic modular courses Fees would be approx. Rs.2,50,000.
  4. If selected for the GP Rating program, after the interview the candidate will have to undergo a medical test and psychometric test, the cost of which (approximate Rs.6500/-) will have to be paid by the candidate.
  5. Online test for eligible candidates will be held at a candidate location (Dates of online test and login credentials will be communicated to shortlisted candidates through email). Fees for online test will be approximately Rs.1500/-
  6. Based on the performance in the online test, if you are shortlisted for interview:
  7. a) All expenses incurred by way of traveling, boarding, lodging, etc during the selection procedure will have to be borne by the candidate.
  8. b) Please bring original mark-sheets of the 10th and the 12th Class (10+2) Board Exams & Degree / Diploma Certificate. Appearing candidate are eligible  to apply for the sponsorship test
  9. The selection criteria and selection process are at the sole discretion of Training Ship Varren.

Selection Process

Step 1: Online Application

  • Fill out the application form on the website.

Step 2: Online Entrance Test

  • MCQ-based exam (English, Maths, GK, Reasoning)
  • Duration: Approx. 2 Hours

Step 3: Personal Interview

  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.

Step 4: Medical Examination

  • Conducted by DG Shipping approved doctor
  • Ensures fitness for sea life

Step 5: Final Selection

Selection is based on:

  • Academic Performance
  • Online Test Score
  • Interview Performance
  • Medical Fitness

Step 6: Seat Booking

  • Selected candidates must confirm seat by paying booking amount

Step 7: Sponsorship Letter

  • Issued after confirmation
  • Helps in securing admission & education loan
