IMU CET Requirement

  • For February batch, IMUCET ranking is mandatory.
  • For August batch, 12th Appearing and CET applied candidates are eligible.

Instructions for DNS Sponsorship

  • Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility criteria (academic, age, and medical) before applying. Applications that do not meet the minimum requirements will be rejected at any stage of the process.
  • It is mandatory to appear and qualify in IMU-CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test). Without a valid IMU-CET score, the DNS admission and sponsorship process will not be considered valid.
  • Applicants must fill out the online application form carefully with accurate details. Any incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information may lead to immediate disqualification without prior notice.
  • Candidates should use a valid email ID and mobile number, as all communication regarding tests, interviews, and selection updates will be shared through these channels.
  • A valid Indian passport is compulsory. Candidates who do not have a passport at the time of application must ensure it is obtained before the commencement of training.
  • Candidates must be prepared to undergo a multi-stage selection process, which may include an online test, personal interview, and psychometric assessment conducted by the sponsoring company.
  • Applicants are required to bear the cost of application fees, entrance tests, psychometric tests, medical examinations, and travel expenses for interviews or further selection rounds.
  • Shortlisted candidates must appear for a personal interview with original documents, including 10th & 12th mark sheets, IMU-CET details, passport, and other relevant certificates for verification.
  • Candidates must meet strict medical standards as per DG Shipping guidelines, including 6/6 eyesight and no color blindness. Final selection is subject to medical fitness approved by authorized doctors.
  • Upon selection, candidates are required to pay the prescribed seat booking amount within the given deadline to confirm their sponsorship. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the offer.
  • Selected candidates must complete 1-year Pre-Sea DNS training at a DG Shipping approved institute, which will be allotted by the sponsoring company based on availability and internal criteria.
  • Candidates should be financially prepared to bear the full cost of the DNS course and associated training expenses, which may range approximately between ₹9–10 lakhs or as applicable.
  • After completion of pre-sea training, candidates must enroll in the Structured Shipboard Training Programme (SSTP) as per company and DG Shipping requirements before joining onboard training.
  • Candidates must maintain discipline, professionalism, and adherence to company policies throughout the training and selection process. Any misconduct may lead to termination of sponsorship.
  • The sponsoring company does not authorize any agents or third parties for admission or selection. Candidates dealing with unauthorized persons do so entirely at their own risk.
  • The final selection and sponsorship are purely at the discretion of the company, and the company reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.
  • By applying for DNS sponsorship, the candidate confirms that all provided information is true and agrees to comply with all rules, regulations, and training requirements set by the company and maritime authorities.

Selection Process for DNS Sponsorship

Step 1 – Apply online through the official website by filling in accurate personal, academic, and contact details.

Step 2 – Eligible candidates receive an email with a link to appear for an online examination, which can be taken from any location with a stable internet connection.

Step 3 – Candidates who clear the online test are invited via email for a personal interview at a company-decided venue and schedule.

Step 4 – Shortlisted candidates from the interview must undergo a medical examination conducted by company-approved doctors.

Step 5 – Final selection is communicated through email based on academic performance, test scores, interview results, and medical fitness.

Step 6 – Selected candidates are required to pay the seat booking amount and submit the necessary documents to confirm their admission.

Step 7 – Upon confirmation, candidates receive the official sponsorship letter from the company and admission letter from the DG Shipping-approved institute.

About the Online Entrance Test

The online entrance test conducted by Varren Marines Shipping Pvt. Ltd. is a 2-hour examination designed to assess a candidate’s overall aptitude, academic knowledge, and suitability for a career in the merchant navy. Candidates will receive the login credentials and detailed instructions via email prior to the examination.

The cut-off marks for qualification will also be communicated through email at the time of the test. All questions in the examination are multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

The test evaluates candidates across the following key areas:

  • English – Vocabulary, reading comprehension, and sentence construction to assess communication skills.
  • Logical Reasoning – Deductive, inductive, and abductive reasoning to evaluate problem-solving ability.
  • Personality Assessment (AMPD) – Measures traits like extraversion, conscientiousness, emotional stability, openness, and agreeableness.
  • Quantitative Ability – Includes basic arithmetic, ratio & proportion, simple interest, time & speed, work & time, profit & loss, and similar concepts.
  • General Awareness – Covers current affairs, history, economics, and geography to test general knowledge.
  • Fundamentals of Physics – Topics such as classical mechanics, Newton’s laws of motion, electromagnetism, electromagnetic waves, thermodynamics, and modern physics.
  • Fundamentals of Chemistry – Includes physical, inorganic, and organic chemistry basics.
