Advance Fire Fighting Course
The 4-day Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF) Course is a structured, intensive program for deck and engine cadets as well as officers, ensuring they are fully prepared for fire emergencies onboard. This DG Shipping-approved course blends theory with practical sessions, including live fire drills and damage control exercises in a controlled Fire Training Unit (FTU).
Students will gain the ability to:
- Control fire fighting operations in diverse emergency scenarios
- Organize and train fire parties for rapid response
- Inspect and maintain fire detection and extinguishing systems
- Investigate fire incidents and prepare safety reports

AFF Course Eligibility Criteria:
- Sea Service Requirement:
- Officers, Engineers, Cadets, or Ratings with 12 months of sea service OR
- 6 months of sea service with approved pre-sea training (proof required)
- Prerequisite Training:
- Must have successfully completed Basic Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FPFF) course
- Medical Fitness:
- Medically fit as per International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards
- Medical certificate from a DG Shipping-approved doctor
- Vision and hearing must meet maritime standards
- E-Learning:
- Completion of the E-Learning module of the AFF course as per DG Shipping guidelines
