GP Rating Admission

What is GP Rating Course?

The GP Rating Course is a six-month pre-sea training program that students can join after completing Class 10th or 12th (in any stream). It is one of the most direct and affordable entry points into the Merchant Navy, especially for students who want to start working at sea without pursuing a long college degree.

Among the three primary ways to enter the Merchant Navy, GP Rating is considered the most basic and beginner-friendly option. The course is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), Government of India.

After successful completion of training, students are placed onboard merchant ships for hands-on experience. This onboard training marks the start of their sea career.
